Philly Mayor: Obama Pastor Talk Beyond Pale

Mayor Michael Nutter Tells ABC News He Would Have Quit Church if His Pastor Made Such RemarksBy DAVID MUIR, URSULA FAHY and JOEL SIEGEL

Did you see AC360 last night?

I watched it and found one story he had very interesting.
No we can't... in Michigan Here is a link to the transcripts. Remember when reading this that Thomas is a Obama supporter.....

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

GARY TUCHMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): It's the year 2000. Democrats are angry. They want a recount in the presidential election which they don't get. Fast forward to the present; instead of a recount, many Democrats want a redo. But this time around many other Democrats redon't.

BUZZ THOMAS, MICHIGAN STATE SENATOR: I believe the redo effort is dead.

TUCHMAN: Michigan State Senator Buzz Thomas is a co-chairman of Barack Obama's Michigan campaign and just led an apparently successful effort to kill legislation to authorize a revote.

THOMAS: It's not appropriate to go and change state law at the last moment and insist on a quick fix to a very, very serious question.

JIM BLANCHARD, FORMER MICHIGAN GOVERNOR: I believe that they feel they're ahead and they don't want to have any more losses with big states.

TUCHMAN: Former Michigan Governor Jim Blanchard is Hillary Clinton's Michigan campaign co-chairman. He and his candidate want this redo.

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON, (D) PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: We need to either count the votes that have already been cast in Michigan and Florida or have new, full and fair elections.

TUCHMAN: Barack Obama has shown no similar enthusiasm.

SEN. BARACK OBAMA, (D) IL: What we believe is that there should be some way of arriving at a fair settlement that respects the fact that there were rules in place. TUCHMAN: That fair settlement says Senator Thomas and his co-chairman State Senator Tupac Hunter is to split the delegates.

(on camera): If Barack Obama was leading this state but not leading in the country like he is now, would you have been more aggressive to get a redo election here than you have been now?

TUPAC HUNTER, MICHIGAN STATE SENATOR: No. If I was presented with the same redo situation, no. No. I would have explained to the candidate that I supported, I understand your agenda may be X, but as a legislator I'm expected to make sound policy decisions.

TUCHMAN: So you're not trying to help Obama?

HUNTER: It has nothing to do with that.

TUCHMAN: The two Obama chairmen say they're troubled by potential legal issues, private funding for the redo and the burden on county election clerks. They say so many senators agreed with them it never came to a vote. Dawson Bell is a state capital reporter for the "Detroit Free Press."

DAWSON BELL, "DETROIT FREE PRESS": While there were some pre-textual reasons for objecting to a do-over election that the principle one was they determined that it wouldn't be advantageous to their candidate.

TUCHMAN: Barack Obama?

BELL: Barack Obama.

TUCHMAN: Nobody knows what will happen with Michigan's delegates. Many voters throughout the state are confused and incredulous.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Michigan screwed up the whole thing.

TUCHMAN (on camera): So nearly eight years after Bush versus Gore the issue of votes not counting is in the headlines once again. But this time the Democrats don't need the Republicans as their tormentors. They've got themselves.

BLANCHARD: I'm disappointed in the party leaders in Washington, disappointed in the tactics, in this case, of the Obama advisers.

THOMAS: I'm sleeping well at night knowing we made the right decision, and luckily, you know, I guess it's good to be in the lead.

TUCHMAN: Gary Tuchman, CNN, Lansing, Michigan.

A FEW OF THE THINGS I HAVE BEEN READING

Double Negative
by The issue of negative campaigning and its proper bounds is now dominating the Democratic campaign. In recent weeks, the neck-and-neck race has degenerated into a miasma of trivial flaps--the source of that photo of Barack Obama in Somali garb, the "gaffes" of Samantha Power and Geraldine Ferraro, and so on--only tenuously related to the question of whether Obama or Hillary Clinton would be a better president. How many times were the YouTube video's played before it ever got on CNN or MSNBC or any other major media outlet? Millions, it is a shame how the media is treating him with kid gloves just because he is black. Now they are trying to say it is just women who feel this way. No it is not! Mr. Obama is a one term senator who does not have enough experience to be President Of The United States. Then when you count all the times he has lied to get ahead......

They cover a poll but they don't cover really why we won't vote for him. We see him for what he really is and we know how he has lied even if the MSM won't cover it, we know..... If it takes them as long as it did to cover Reverend Wright to cover his lies and every thing else (No Quarter covers him well) it will be to late and the democrats will be stuck with him. Will we vote McCain? YES, to stop Obama from being the president. Some are saying still, they will write Hillary Clinton's name in. Not everyone can write in on a ticket. Or is it going to be "Hell No We Won't Vote". What ever choice they make it is becoming more and more clear democrats will not vote for Mr.Obama. What does the DNC have to say? Who knows anymore, not much, Al Gore may have a say in things, don't know yet we will see. Here is a piece on Al. Do we want John McCain for our president? No, of course not, but he does have more experience than the one term senator. The U.S. is in a lot of trouble and we won't vote for a ONE TERM SENATOR! Not a lying one, thats for sure!

Clinton Interview March 26th '08

Exclusive: Clinton Vows to Push On

Hillary Clinton is under a lot of pressure these days, but in a Tuesday interview she seemed cheery, confident and unapologetic as she talked about her determination to fight on in the Presidential race. Speaking by phone from Pennsylvania, she explained why she plans to continue her push for the Democratic nomination, even as some question her chances of winning. She expressed confidence that her party would pull together in time to beat Republican John McCain, as well as a belief that the remaining contests — and perhaps some surprising shifts in the delegates already elected — would make her the Democrats' nominee......

Leaders of the Democratic Party and much of the media are wringing their hands over what to do about Democratic voters in Florida and Michigan, in order not to leave them out of the process of picking a nominee, and perhaps alienating them as for as the general election in November is concerned.

Like so many things that politicians do that end up in a tangled mess, the current rules and practices may have been things that "seemed like a good idea at the time."

There might be a lesson there about not getting carried away with rhetoric, and about the need to stop and think through the consequences before the consequences overwhelm you......

Perception of Electability At Stake For Obama In Coming Primaries

by Mayhill Fowler

FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES 3/25/08

Clinton Says She ‘Misspoke’ About Dodging Sniper Fire

BLUE BELL, Pa. — As part of her argument that she has the best experience and instincts to deal with a sudden crisis as president, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton recently offered a vivid description of having to run across a tarmac to avoid sniper fire after landing in Bosnia as first lady in 1996.
Yet on Monday, Mrs. Clinton admitted that she “misspoke” about the episode — a concession that came after CBS News showed footage of her walking calmly across the tarmac with her daughter, Chelsea, and being greeted by dignitaries and a child.

The backpedaling was a rare instance of Mrs. Clinton’s acknowledging an error, and she did so on a sensitive issue: She has cited her “strength and experience” since the start of the presidential race, framing her 80 trips abroad as first lady as preparation for dealing with foreign affairs as president. That argument was behind her campaign’s “red phone” commercial, which cast her as best able to handle a crisis.

Mrs. Clinton corrected herself at a meeting with the Philadelphia Daily News editorial board; she did not explain why she had misspoken, but only admitted it and then offered a less dramatic description.

Mrs. Clinton said she had been told “that we had to land a certain way and move quickly because of the threat of sniper fire,” not that actual shots were being fired.

“So I misspoke,” she said......

THE REAL CLEAR TRUTH

The Audacity of Rhetoric

It is painful to watch defenders of Barack Obama tying themselves into knots trying to evade the obvious.

Some are saying that Senator Obama cannot be held responsible for what his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, said. In their version of events, Barack Obama just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time -- and a bunch of mean-spirited people are trying to make something out of it.

It makes a good story, but it won't stand up under scrutiny............

BOSTON, March 22, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- At a fireside meeting at Beech Hill County House Hotel's drawing room in Derry, Northern Ireland, nationally syndicated radio talk show travel expert Stephanie Abrams met yesterday with 1998 Nobel Peace Prize Winner John Hume, during which Hume clearly stated his endorsement of Hillary Clinton for President of the U.S. Abrams, traveling through Ireland broadcasting live and recording interviews for her radio audiences in the U.S. which are archived at www.sabrams.com , states she had to "catch up with John at this relevant time in U.S. history, to get inside-track answers to questions about the peace process in Northern Ireland as seen by someone who has devoted his life to this process. The most dramatic part of the interview," Abrams notes, "is John Hume's clear endorsement of Hillary Clinton for President of the United States. He concluded with: 'I have no doubt, given Hillary Clinton's commitment to peace in the world, as President of the United States, she would give such leadership.' This was a stunning outcome of the interview," Abrams notes.

Impact of racist comments on politics

(last 2 paragraphs)

Any one who might support Senator Obama needs to ask themselves if they would be comfortable in a church where the pastor proclaimed our country the “U.S. KKK of A.” where the origin of the AIDS virus is attributed to the U.S. government and where America is described as a country that is run by “rich white people.” Senator Obama has been a member of this church for 18 years.

If Senator Obama was a Caucasian male attending a church that advocated some of the same inflammatory views that Reverend Wright espoused, I do not think he would be given the same sympathy and understanding. If I heard that a Caucasian candidate had been attending some sort of church which proclaimed the same hateful rhetoric as Reverend Wright, I would not need a news analyst to explain to me why this person was not a good candidate. I would not vote for a person, regardless of race, which was so strongly associated with this sort of institution.
Senator Obama is a charismatic leader, but I think his presidential candidacy shows a racial divisiveness which opens old wounds instead of healing them.

The latest polls reflecting Obama’s near-collapse should serve as a morality tale of John Edwards’s two Americas — the political obtuseness of the intellectual elite juxtaposed to the common sense of the working classes.

For some bizarre reason, Obama aimed his speech at winning praise from National Public Radio, the New York Times, and Harvard, and solidifying an already 90-percent solid African-American base — while apparently insulting the intelligence of everyone else.

Indeed, the more op-eds and pundits praised the courage of Barack Obama, the more the polls showed that there was a growing distrust that the eloquent and inspirational candidate has used his great gifts, in the end, to excuse the inexcusable...............

Clinton Backer Points to Electoral College Votes as New Measure

Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, who backs Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton for president, proposed another gauge Sunday by which superdelegates might judge whether to support Mrs. Clinton or Senator Barack Obama.

Both Obama And Clinton Embellish Their Roles......

(page 2)
Just this week, as the financial markets were roiling in the wake of the Bear Stearns collapse, Obama made another claim that was greeted with disbelief in some corners of Capitol Hill. On March 13, Dodd, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, unveiled legislative proposals to allow the Federal Housing Administration to guarantee new loans from banks willing to help homeowners in or approaching foreclosure. Obama and Clinton were in Washington for a day-long round of budget voting, but neither appeared at the housing news conference.

Yet Obama on Monday appeared to seek top billing on Dodd's proposal.

"At this moment, we must come together and act to address the housing crisis that set this downturn in motion and continues to eat away at the public's confidence in the market," Obama said. "We should pass the legislation I put forward with my colleague Chris Dodd to create meaningful incentives for lenders to buy or refinance existing mortgages so that Americans facing foreclosure can keep their homes."

Dodd did say that Obama supported the bill, as does Clinton. But he could not offer pride of authorship to the candidate he wants to see in the White House next year.

Early reactions to Sen. Barack Obama's Big Speech in Philadelphia last week about his pastor and spiritual adviser of 20 years, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., sound like a mixed review: "It was a nice speech about race, but what about that nutty preacher?"

Four years of hate against America, that is what you will get because he listened to it for 17/20 years and didn't leave. You don't stay if you don't believe and feel the same way.

OBAMA IS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR GOP!

GOP sees Rev. Wright as path to victory

For months, Republican party officials have watched with increasing trepidation as Barack Obama has shattered fundraising records, packed arena after arena with shrieking fans and pulled in significant Republican and independent votes.

Now, with the emergence of the notorious video showing the Rev. Jeremiah Wright damning the country, criticizing Israel, faulting U.S. policy for the Sept. 11 attacks and generally lashing out against white America, GOP strategists believe they’ve finally found an antidote to Obamamania....

Clinton calls on Obama to support do-over

Sen. Hillary Clinton challenged her Democratic opponent Sen. Barack Obama to support a primary election that will allow Michigan voters to have a voice in the selection of the next president.

“The people in Michigan and particularly Democrats in Michigan know that Michigan matters in both the primary and general election,” she told a crowd of more than 300 people at the AFSCME Local 25 union hall in Detroit. “If the Democrats send a message that we don’t care about your votes, I’m sure that John McCain and the Republicans will be happy to have them.”...........................

Until recently, this "12 Point Black Value System" was featured on the "About us" page of Trinity United Church of Christ's website. This is the Chicago church which Democrat Party presidential hopeful Barack Obama attends. It was removed following a expose on the church and was replaced.

Sort of makes one wonder why they removed it if it was so important to them and integral to their
belief system, doesn't it..?

I GUESS THEY MISSED SOME!

Obama, Trinity Church ‘Airbrush’ Web Sites

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 11:16 AM
By: Jim Meyers

Barack Obama has been publicly defending his longtime relationship with the controversial former pastor of his Chicago church, but his campaign is taking steps to quietly remove any mention of his pastor from the campaign’s Web site.

But the efforts to “airbrush” the Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Trinity United Church from the campaign’s site, www.barackobama.com, have been uncovered by bloggers who have conducted searches of the site in Web archives.

For example, Wright had been prominently featured on the Obama site as the first person listed in the “Testimonials” section.

Next to a large picture, Wright was quoted as saying: “I support Barack because of his incarnated faith — his faith made alive in the flesh. He reaches across all faith communities and even to those who have no faith at all.” But Wright’s testimonial has now vanished from Obama’s site and been replaced by a statement from “Danielle S.,” a Ph.D. student in educational policy.

Clinton says Iraq war may cost $1 trillion

HOW WILL IT ALL END????

The Divided Democrats

It has been more than five decades since any political party in America has had a brokered convention, and for political junkies a heated battle at the Democratic convention seems like a tantalizing possibility. But for Democrats, a protracted nomination battle, culminating in a convention fight, could undermine the party's hopes of reclaiming the White House this fall.

Since voters in Ohio and Texas breathed new life into Hillary Clinton's campaign, some have argued that the current stalemate will not hurt the party's candidate come November. After all, as several prominent bloggers have argued, wasn't the 1968 Democratic primary battle worse? Didn't eventual nominee Hubert Humphrey go on to lose by a mere 1% of the popular vote to Richard Nixon? If a bitter Democratic race hurts a party's chances in the general election, shouldn't Humphrey have lost by more?..................

I am a strong Hillary supporter by joann4

In twenty years as a member of Rev. Wright's church, Obama NEVER separated himself from, or repudiated the hate rhetoric of his pastor. He's just doing the narrow parsing necessary to be able to look in the mirror, and carry this charade forward. How does he look into his children's eyes as young girls, when his Pastor spews misogyny, hatred of half their genetic make-up, and disparaging the AA community that has worked past this sorry language to achieve identity as Americans first? This is guilt by association, guilt by silence, guilt by hoodwink and bamboozle. He can't step away and say he's "unaware". He has all his faculties, and brilliance as well. And his legs could have carried him down the aisle to another Church more in line with the cover he seems to be grabbing for. He's more Malcom X than MLK. He's not an activist for anyone but himself. And he won't do a thing to change the plight of those who have been abandoned.
And my vote will have an asterisk, as I'm no McCain Democrat. I would never vote for an enabler like Obama...never.

I am a strong Hillary supporter, and will vote for her over anyone else if and WHEN she's the nominee.

THIS IS FROM WILLIAM

If all the superdelegates were supposed to do was vote exactly in keeping with the pledged delegates, the whole concept of superdelegates would be a joke. Those weren't intended to be ceremonial positions. They were intended to act as a counterweight to a system which might allow someone (like McGovern) to win lots of caucuses in red states and thus overproduce a delegate count which did not match his popularity or If all the superdelegates were supposed to do was vote exactly in keeping with the pledged delegates, the whole concept of superdelegates would be a joke. Those weren't intended to be ceremonial positions. They were intended to act as a counterweight to a system which might allow someone (like McGovern) to win lots of caucuses in red states and thus overproduce a delegate count which did not match his popularity or electability. That is exactly what they were put in to do; not to rubber-stamp the pledged delegates.. Pelosi either is an idiot, or she knows that very well and is simply trying to provide cover for her Obama support.

Donna Brazile knows that very well, too; because she was part of this process. If the Democratic Party ever had fifty closed primaries, no caucuses, and none of this inane awarding of delegates based on last election's turnout in various districts (that was put in to give more weight to Black voters), then we wouldn't need superdelegates. But when you have a system which allows Obama to lose the vote in Nevada and get more delegates, or to lose by 100,000 in Texas and somehow win the delegate count, you need superdelegates to be aware of that, and to compensate. Again, willful obtuseness and obfuscation by the Democratic hierarchy. How about telling the voters the truth about the process, Ms. Pelosi and Ms. Brazile? You're no better than the Republicans, when it comes down to it.

'Raw Politics': Dems should have seen it coming

(CNN) -- When I was a first-grader in South Dakota, my older brother and I climbed onto a sled, at the top of an ice covered trail that plunged through a forest.

He stretched out on his stomach and grabbed the steering handles, I climbed onto his back and held tight. A quick push and we were flying; faster and faster, ice crystals stinging, the steel runners cutting like blades.

Then we saw it. Dead ahead. A fat pine.

He yelled for me to fall off; lighten the load so he might swerve away. I held tight. He said I was pinning his arms down. I held tight. He said we were going to hit. He was right.

As we lay in the snow by our crumpled sled, gloves, hats, boots strewn around like a yard sale, two teenage girls walked by. They looked at us, looked at the tree, looked the sled run, and summed up our adventure. "Well, you could have seen that coming."

Michigan. Florida. The Democrats could have, should have seen it coming.

Back when they decided to punish both states by stripping them of their delegates for moving up their primaries, national party officials made it clear they felt they had no other
choice..............

This is from Sun. March 8. But how true it is. NOW you have Pelosi saying this.......

Pelosi: Superdelegates may do damage

WASHINGTON (AP) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says it would be damaging to the Democratic party for its leaders to buck the will of national convention delegates picked in primaries and caucuses, a declaration that gives a boost to Sen. Barack Obama.

So why does she keep helping Barack Obama? She tells the SD's sit still, wait, but she keeps making statements to help Sen.Obama. …Is this a case of do as I say not as I do?

"If the votes of the super delegates overturn what's happened in the elections, it would be harmful to the Democratic party," Pelosi said in an interview taped Friday for broadcast Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

The California Democrat did not mention either Obama or his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, by name. But her remarks seemed to suggest she was prepared to cast her ballot at the convention in favor of the candidate who emerges from the primary season with the most pledged delegates.....................................

In her interview, Pelosi also said that even if one candidate winds up with a larger share of the popular vote than the delegate leader, the candidate who has more delegates should prevail.

I thought the SD's are supposed to decide for themselves who they think the better candidate is? Is she for Obama? What if after all the people vote he does not have the lead, SD's can shift.....there are a lot of people left to vote....and what about that popular vote, you know what I am talking about, what if Hillary has the popular vote in the end. Then we don't listen to what the people say? POPULAR VOTE = VOICE OF THE PEOPLE ....We won't know that until everyone has had a chance to vote.....Is Pelosi going to let everyone vote? What does she want in Florida and Michigan? One more thing.......the "DEM's FOR A DAY" picking the democratic candidate??? As a 30 year dem. I don't like it. Is this how Obama is going to win the nomination? Read This
